They See Me Haulin'

I’m not proud of what I did today, but I’m also not leaving any of it back.  I decided at 3.30pm to take a trip to Covent Garden to do some shopping, even though most of the stores close at 5 or 6.  I believe it was this pressure that led me to spend a ridiculous amount of money in a mere 20 minutes.  I am only including high end products in this post, as for the other things I bought I will review them soon.  Please remember this is a judging-free zone and these products are an early birthday present.. albeit from myself.

Once off the tube I ventured to Space NK and made my first ever purchases from NARS!  I picked up the gorgeous Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Goddess and could not put it down.  This shade is absolutely beautiful and due to ease of application and its subtle shimmer, I’m sure it will be quickly making its way into my everyday makeup routine.  I then managed to find the NARS X GUY BOURDIN Cinematic Lipstick in Last Tango, which is the most amazing sultry nude.  I have long been after a brown-toned nude and this is most definitely a “your lips but better” shade.  I don’t want to speak too soon, but this may be the lipstick that conquers my fear of lipsticks. Although in most places these are sold out, I’d highly recommend having a look in your local NARS stockist, as I was lucky enough to find one today!
Next, I went to MAC, where the real damage was done.  I’ve been meaning to start a MAC Pro Eyeshadow Palette for a long time, but always convinced myself they were too expensive.  (I was right.)  However, considering I have now ventured into the world of beauty blogging and my birthday is coming up, I look at this as more of an investment than a silly Sunday splurge.  I took to the counter a Mac Pro Palette in Large, and a 15x Eyeshadow insert, as well as three eyeshadows.  My choices were Cranberry - a beautiful deep shimmery red, Stars N Rockets - a frosted light purple with gorgeous blue tones, and Wedge - a medium matte brown which I picked up for my brows and for eye contouring.  The eyeshadows are pictured in the palette in this order below.

It would be a crying shame (or so I convinced myself) to purchase such beautiful eyeshadows and not have the right tools to use them to their full advantage.  Therefore I hastily picked up a MAC 217 brush which is the Holy Grail for eyeshadow blending.  This brush will now take pride of place in my Disney cup on my desk full of my favourite makeup brushes. (No, sadly I am not joking..) I had been meaning to instead buy a dupe of this brush, but all of the reviews have said that this brush is the be-all and end-all of eye makeup, and it was right in front of me!  I will however be searching for dupes of other MAC brushes and will write a post on the best ones I’ve found!

Lastly, I couldn’t help myself but pick up a Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle.  This golden highlight has frequented my face every time I’ve had my makeup done at a MAC counter, and that’s no coincidence.  This has been on my wish list for a long time and now I finally have it in my collection - move over High Beam.

After today I don’t think my bank balance and I will be friends for a while, but I believe in treating yourself every once in a while, and a few (and a bit) high end pieces are a lot better to invest in than a multitude of cheap products that you’ll be unhappy with.  Please don’t judge me too strongly, I’m weak!  I've also included my food of choice in Covent Garden today, so apologies for making you hungry, but it was too good not to photograph!

Now I'm hungry again.
